Possible uses:

  1. Lightweight arms & levers
  2. Wheel spokes
  3. Cantilever beams
  4. Lazy tongs
  5. Sandwich structure with aluminum sheet
  6. Machine bases

Tips:

Birch plywood is an excellent fairly uniform density wood. It is lightweight and strong.

You should be careful not to place holes to close to the edges of the wood as it can split. Also be careful when drilling large holes as this may also cause splitting.

Tools:

To modify you can use the following tools: Bandsaw, Drill, Sander

You should be careful when using: X-acto knifes

You should not use: Shear, Brake, Notcher, Grinder, Mill, Lathe, Taps (Threads will be weak.), or the Spotwelder.

Examples:

A piece of wood sandwitched between two sheets of aluminum. It is very very stiff, very stong, and reasonably light.
Thick wood used to make the spokes of a wheel.
