About The Corps:

The Urban Design Corps (UDC) is a program that is sponsored and was developed by MIT and the Academy of Applied Sciences to help urban youth learn to create and market products.

The course curriculum nurtures the seed of creativity of each sudent within certain guidelines that ensures a creative, but most importantly, marketable product. After all, the students are consumers and by creating something that they would use, they create a product for a defined demographic (i.e. students, athletes, young adults, etc.)

Prof. Alex Slocum's view on making the world a better place by designing your own destiny:

"We must start from scratch and use the basic tools we have. These basic tools are the strength of the human spirit, the ability of human beings to create, and the intellectual property protection laws granted by our constitution."
